FAQ
On accreditation validity, sample submission processes, report timelines and remediation, we've written out these common questions below. If you don't find your answer, just call the hotline.
Accreditation & Report Validity
What reports can be used for, where to verify them, and how they relate to certification.
Will you subcontract our projects?
Projects within TMC's own capabilities are always done in-house. For the occasional specialty project requiring a partner laboratory, we'll tell you in advance and honestly note the subcontractor and subcontracted items on the report. Passing off subcontracting as in-house capability is against this industry's bottom line.
What if my client/certification body doesn't accept your reports?
Before submission, give us the client's original requirements — do they need English reports, a designated laboratory, or extra formatting requirements? After verification, we give you written confirmation: if we can meet them, we proceed directly; if not, we tell you directly — no wasting your time.
How Far Do You Take It? Do I Still Need Someone Else to Certify?
TMC LAB
Do test reports have legal validity?
We hold CMA inspection body metrology accreditation and CNAS laboratory accreditation. Reports for items within the accredited scope can be used for product quality evaluation, achievement appraisal and the issuance of certifying data to society. Reports can be verified for authenticity on the official website.
Where can I find your accredited scope?
You can check the CMA scope by entering registration number 202119015835 on the CNCA "Metrology Accreditation Information Inquiry" platform, or check the accredited scope by entering registration number L8364 in the CNAS "Accredited Laboratory Directory." The accreditation section of our website also provides direct links.
Your Lab Is Not That Big - Can the Data Be Trusted?
Data accuracy comes down to two things: whether equipment is calibrated on schedule, and whether the project falls within the accredited scope. Our key equipment all has serial numbers and calibration records, and equipment numbers are stated on reports; the CNAS and CMA accredited scope appendices are shared with you — one check tells you whether your items are covered. That's more concrete than anything I can say.
Process, Timeline & Sample Submission
From quotation to report — how long each step takes and what to prepare.
We already have a regular partner laboratory — why choose you?
We're not asking you to replace your existing supplier — we want to be your second supplier. When they can't fit your deadline or can't do certain items, you have an emergency option. The first order can start with a small project — expand once you find us reliable.
Will testing timelines delay our mass production milestones?
Let's work backward together. Tell me your report date and count back: report preparation N days, testing itself N days, sample receipt confirmation 1 day — that determines the latest day samples must reach us. I'll send written confirmation of that date, and both sides will track it together.
The budget hasn't been approved yet — can you give a quotation first?
No problem. I'll compile the plan, quotation and justification into a document you can hand directly to leadership, clearly stating the risks of not doing this testing (customer rejection, rework, line stoppage). It'll be easier for leadership to approve; once approved, we can start anytime.
Can we visit your laboratory first?
Welcome — that's the best signal. Both the Shenzhen Bao'an and Dongguan Tangxia sites can be arranged. Before coming, tell us which items you care most about, and I'll have the corresponding engineers on-site — seeing equipment, calibration records and discussing technical plans directly works better than over the phone.
How long does a project take to produce a report?
Standard projects 3~5 business days, full EMC suite 5~8 business days, battery projects with abuse testing 15~25 business days. Within 1 business day of submitting your request, you'll receive a clear plan, timeline and quotation. Rush projects can apply for priority insertion, with reports ready in as fast as 48 hours.
Not sure which test items to do — can you help me decide?
Yes. Tell us your product type, target market and client requirements, and a technical consultant will help map applicable standards and the minimum necessary test combination, avoiding over-testing waste or missed-test rework. This is free.
How do I submit samples? Can out-of-town clients ship them?
Courier sample delivery and on-site pickup are both supported. In Shenzhen, engineer home visits can be booked; Dongguan and surrounding areas can arrange dedicated vehicles; out-of-town clients simply follow our sample submission guide. We have bases in Tangxia, Dongguan and Bao'an, Shenzhen, allowing nearby scheduling.
How is the quotation calculated? Will items or charges be added later?
Priced item by item per standard projects, with the quotation stating standard numbers, test items, unit prices and totals. If the plan review stage reveals items that must be added, we'll inform you and confirm first before executing — no surprise charges at the report stage.
With two bases in Shenzhen and Dongguan, which one should I send samples to?
The Shenzhen Bao'an base focuses on safety, EMC, RF wireless and chemistry; the Dongguan Tangxia base focuses on environmental reliability, performance & materials, failure analysis and VOC. If unsure, just ask your contact — we'll help you pick the nearest and fastest based on project type and scheduling.
Can I do just a single test, or must I do the full package?
Single items are fine. We have no package bundling requirements — if you want one metric, we test one metric. If it's for market access in a specific market, we'd suggest a pre-compliance combination first, but what to test is ultimately your decision.
My Manager Already Picked Another Lab - What Can You Still Do for Me?
If it's designated, we follow the designation. But if you'd like, send me their project list for a quick look — I'll help you check for missed items. Missed items rejected by your client later will cost you far more.
Remediation & Confidentiality
What if tests fail, how is data security ensured, and how is responsibility assigned?
If testing fails, do you just walk away?
Not at all — that's where the value is. For failures we do three things: issue real data and failure observations; engineers provide possible causes and remediation directions; retesting after remediation goes at a discounted price, with no new set-up fee. What you want is a product that truly passes, not a pretty report.
What if testing fails? Do we pay again?
For failed items caused by our testing, we retest free until closure. For failures caused by the product itself, we provide actionable remediation directions (structure, material selection, layout, shielding, filtering, etc.); retests after remediation get priority insertion, with retest costs calculated separately per project.
Will samples and data be kept confidential?
Yes. All client information, samples and test data are strictly confidential, used only for the testing purpose of this commission and nothing else. A non-disclosure agreement (NDA) can be signed if needed.
The report has been issued but the data needs revision — what do we do?
If it's our data entry or interpretation error, we issue a revised report free of charge with the revision reason stated, and the old version is simultaneously invalidated. If it's caused by client-side information errors (model, batch, client name), it goes through the report change process for reissue, charging only the cost fee.
Can We Test First and Pay Once the Client Approves, or Get 90-day Terms?
I can't decide payment terms on the spot — that requires approval. But if you sign a framework agreement, or prepay part of the first order, I can apply for credit terms with that, and the success rate will be much higher. If convenient, I'll submit the application today.
The above answers are based on general situations. Specific project timelines and feasibility depend on sample condition and scheduling — please refer to the plan confirmed by your contact.
